Exquisite European Set Lunch with An Asian Touch at Pollen

The entrance

Located within the stunning Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay, Pollen exudes a charming and chic atmosphere with wooden furniture and comfortable cushion seats. The restaurant is bright with glass windows showcasing a spectacular view of Gardens by the Bay and the Marina Bayfront. The temperature is chilly due to the Flower Dome’s temperature controlled climate. I have been to the Terrace twice, and however, this was my very first time dining at the ground floor dining room.

Dining at Pollen is a luxurious affair. Begin your epicurean journey with the restaurant’s personalised buggy service which offers a relaxing ride from Gardens by the Bay’s arrival plaza to the restaurant.

The set menu encompasses three courses at $55 including buggy transfer from the main car park entrance to the restaurant and a complimentary access to the Flower dome. This set menu is refreshed every few months to feature the freshest ingredients of the season.  Every dish is a pretty culinary masterpiece, exquisitely crafted and beautifully assembled.

Homemade hummus with dukkah, crusty olive and sourdough bread and whipped kafir butters

Amuse bouche of homemade hummus with dukkah, crusty olive and sourdough bread and whipped kafir butters was first served to pique our palates.

Marinated salmon, red onion salsa and passion fruit

The marinated salmon, red onion salsa and passion fruit beckoned with the fresh flavours of spring and helped to whet our appetites for the main course.

Beef carpaccio with sour cream, kimchi, garlic rye toast

The beef carpaccio was deftly executed with an Asian twist and the combination of sour cream, kimchi and garlic rye toast tantalised our taste buds with the exotic flavours of the Orient.

Risotto with hazelnuts, brie and pears

My favourite main course is the risotto with hazelnuts, brie and pears. It is creamy with the right consistency and the hazelnuts gives it a crunchy texture and adds an interesting dimension to the dish. Brie gives the risotto a light, buttery and savoury taste while the pears balance it with a fruity finish. My baby boy, André Aaron loves this and finished half the plate of risotto.

Black Angus beef skirt, Bolognese and fresh herbs

Alternatively, you can also have Black Angus beef skirt, Bolognese and fresh herbs topped with linguine for the main course. The beef complements well with the Bolognese sauce and is so tender that it melts readily in one’s mouth.

Gariguette strawberry with almafi lemon and ricotta

The desserts are impressive too. The gariguette strawberry with almafi lemon and ricotta (available during Spring season only) is light with citrusy notes and helps to cleanse your palate and provides a refreshing conclusion to a wonderful meal.

Kefir peanut butter parfait with blackcurrent sorbet and mixed berries

The kefir peanut butter parfait with blackcurrent sorbet and mixed berries offers a delightful combination of creamy and tangy flavours, leaving one enamoured.
